The Best of Chevy Silverado Special Editions

Tired of Cookie Cutter Cars? Spice up Your Life with a Silverado Special Edition

Chevrolet Silverado Realtree

Chevy loves to crank out Silverado special editions as it gives them a leg up when it comes to the competition in the special edition truck market. While the majority of these Chevrolet Silverado special editions feature mostly cosmetic upgrades, a few of them add features that just might come in handy out on the road, or in the middle of a blizzard.

If you like a custom look, the Silverado is the way to go, and upgrading to a special edition isn’t going to break the bank. The most expensive upgrade costs $6,995 while the cheapest one comes in at under $1,000. Luckily, there are plenty of Silverado special editions to choose from; in fact, there are ten for this model year so you are bound to find one that appeals to your sense of style.

Here is a quick look at the most popular of the Silverado special editions:

Ranking The Top Chevy Special Edition Silverado Models!

Redline

This is the first year for the Silverado Redline Edition. It is available on the LT Z71 double cabs and LTZ Z71 crew cabs. Its bright red and black accents give it the wow factor that will turn heads as you cruise the neighborhood. Upgrading to the Redline edition will run you $2,695 and adds all of this:

  • 20-inch black wheels with red accents
  • Black Silverado badges with red outline
  • Red tow hooks
  • Off-Road Assist Steps
  • Spray-In Bedliner
  • Black Bowties
  • Black Mirror Caps
  • Black Grille with Surrounds
  • Black Headline Trim
  • Body Color Front/Rear Bumpers

Bumping up to the Redline also adds the All Star Edition package which includes a power driver’s seat, remote start, and dual zone automatic climate control. The Redline has a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood with a fairly luxurious interior that includes an impressive Bose sound system. The Redline look pushes the starting price of the 4WD Double Cab LT Z71 to $48,915.

Midnight

If the night time is the right time for you, the Midnight edition may be the best choice. The full-on black treatment gives this Silverado a bold and aggressive look. This special edition is only available on select crew cab and double cab models. Regardless of which model you choose, your only color option is black if you want to add the Midnight package (duh).

The Midnight edition adds the following:

  • Black 18″ wheels
  • Black Chevy bowtie emblems
  • Black door handles and mirror caps
  • Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® off-road tires
  • Bigger, bolder Z71 badging

The Midnight Edition is a relative bargain, only adding $1,050 to the base price and pushing the starting price of the Silverado1500 4WD Crew Cab Short Box LTZ Z71 to $43,350.

The interior is nicely outfitted with the Chevy MyLink infotainment system, an 8-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio system and Bluetooth.

The Midnight Edition is also available on the 2500HD.

High Desert

High Desert adds a sophisticated look that is both sporty and luxurious. The real magic of this edition is in the storage options. It comes with a lockable, water-resistant storage unit that can hold a ton of cargo while also protecting it from whatever the elements can throw at it.

High Desert is available on the LT, LTZ and High Country trims and offers an available Magnetic Ride Control, which will flatten out any bumps on the road and keep your ride smooth as silk.

High Desert adds the following:

  • Sport Bar with Sail Panel
  • All-new flexible, lockable storage system
  • Lighted side storage boxes
  • Standard 20-inch wheels with all-season tires
  • Three Piece Removable Tonneau Cover
  • Power-retractable assist steps
  • All-weather floor liners

The High Desert edition is fairly pricey at $6,995 and pushes the MSRP of the Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab, Short Box High Country up to $54,000.

Custom Sport HD

If a bigger HD Silverado is on your shopping list, the Custom Sport HD special edition may fit the bill. The Custom Sport has a luxurious look and adds a variety of features to the 2500 Crew Cab LT and LTZ models. You can choose between Black and Summit White.

The Custom Sport Edition adds:

  • 20″ polished aluminum wheels
  • Body-color grille and bumpers
  • Chrome bodyside molding
  • Chrome door handles and mirror caps
  • Front and Rear Park Assist
  • Spray-in bed liner

This edition is a real bargain, only adding $795 to the price of the Silverado 2500HD 4WD Crew Cab Standard Box LTZ. However, this is a pretty expensive truck with an MSRP of $62,630. The LTZ Plus Package is required and adds power-adjustable pedals, a heated steering wheel and Bose premium audio system into the already luxurious interior.

Realtree

The Realtree edition was designed in conjunction with Realtree hunting and camouflage experts and is outfitted with hunters in mind. This special edition makes use of the Z71 off-road package and is available on 1500 Crew Cab LTZ Z71 models. The interior is nicely outfitted and includes leather seating with Realtree logos embroidered into the headrests. The upgraded Z71 suspension, underbody shielding and 4-wheel drive help the Realtree edition get to just about any location.

The Realtree upgrade adds $2,850 to the cost of a Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab Short Box LTZ Z71 pushing the starting price up to $45,000.

Special Ops

The Special Ops edition is super special because it supports the efforts of the Trident House Charities Program, which helps families of fallen, active duty, and injured service members. A portion of the proceeds from every Special Ops Edition sale goes to the Trident House. The vehicle’s look was designed with help from the Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida.

  • Sport Assist Steps
  • All-terrain tires
  • Spray-in bed liner

The Special Ops Edition requires the Blackout Edition trim and adds $3,395 to the base price, which starts around $42,000.

Alaskan

You don’t have to live in Alaska to drive the Alaskan edition, but if you do live in the last frontier, this is the truck for you. The Alaskan is only available on the Silverado 2500HD which comes with a 6.0L Vortec engine, though a 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine is also available. Four-wheel drive is standard, and while it doesn’t come with a snowplow, it’s all set up for one.

The Alaskan Edition adds:

  • Spray-in bedliner with concept raised “Alaskan” text
  • 18” black aluminum wheels

The Alaskan edition goes for $2,625, which makes the starting price $55,750.

Rally 1

The Rally 1 is one of the least expensive when it comes to Silverado special editions and mainly features cosmic upgrades. The Rally 1 is available on a custom model with a double cab. Sporty rally striping and 20-inch black wheels give it a unique look.

The Rally 1 adds:

  • Rally striping on hood and sides
  • 20-inch black wheels
  • Spray on bedliner

The Rally 1 edition goes for $1,095.

About Chris Riley

I have been wrecking cars for as long as I've been driving them, but I keep coming back for more. Two wheels or four, I'm all in. I founded GearHeads.org and then built and ran AutoWise.com until selling it to Lola Digital Media in 2020. I look forward to watching AutoWise grow as part of the AllGear group.
